The interventions presented on the following links address academic difficulties experienced by children with diverse learning needs. Those interventions which target reading difficulties are based on the Reading First Initiative established in the No Child Left Behind Act.  Most of interventions in language arts and math were selected because they are evidenced based practices based on sound research. Many of the interventions were located on websites, which provided simple straightforward steps for implementation by the classroom teacher. All of these websites are referenced after the description of the intervention. As the reader reviews the different interventions, please note additional references provided. Furthermore, specific activities and suggestions, which target the specific academic areas, can be found at the end of each academic section.

The reader will find interventions for phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency, reading vocabulary and comprehension, spelling, handwriting, writing fluency, and mathematics. The interventions are provided as a resource to classroom teachers seeking evidenced based practices to assist their students.
