New Chicagoland Cohorts begin Fall 2010

Designed with the working professional in mind!

  • May be completed on a part time basis.
  • Courses offered in the evening and on weekends.
  • Most students will take one course per semester and two courses during the summer.
  • Courses will be offered on location at AERO, online, or as arranged by instructor.
  • Doctoral candidates will attend a Professional Seminar on the Illinois State University campus in Normal approximately once per semester.

Students may pursue a Director of Special Education Post-Master's Certificate and/or Doctorate of Education in Special Education

The typical student will complete the Director of Special Education (DOSE) certification program in 2 years (a minimum of 24 credit hours) and the Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Special Education degree 3-4 years later (a minimum of 51 additional credit hours, including dissertation).

Notes:

  • DOSE certification may be completed without pursuit of the doctoral degree and the doctoral degree may be completed without pursuit of DOSE certification.
  • Transfer credit limitations apply; up to 9 credit hours earned within the last 6 years may be approved for transfer credit, pending departmental review.
