Advising

A word of advisement to prospective students and parents

There is a very important aspect of the university experience which should be part of the "university of choice" decision. Please consider the advisement process as a piece of the puzzle when making your final choice for the university or college of attendance.

In the Department of Special Education at Illinois State University, we have a positive, pro-active, and student-centered advisement process. We feel our "open-door policy" and the personal advisement we give our students are important tools for them designed to be a positive addition to the students' experiences at Illinois State University.

Our programs in the Department of Special Education are rigorous and follow specific timelines and sequences of courses for completion and certification with the State of Illinois. Creation of an effective Plan of Study and continuous individual monitoring of these plans allows students to move through the curriculum without error and undue stress.
